OSTEOPOROSIS RESOURCES
Building our diets around GREEN-RATED foods helps protect our bones. Although calcium has long been known to build bones, and dairy products are known to be high in calcium, there is no evidence that consuming dairy reduces the risk of osteoporosis or fractures. Some experts hypothesize that this is because dairy is highly acidic, which counteracts its high levels of calcium. Conversely, most plant-based foods help alkalize the body, which protects bones and has numerous additional benefits. The best way to protect ourselves from osteoporosis is to exercise and load up on alkalizing high calcium foods like leafy greens, legumes and broccoli.
